Nachdem wir durch unsere hervorragende Arbeit im Bereich der Naturwissenschaften im Schuljahr 2024/25 das Zertifikat als "European Blue School" erhalten haben, nehmen wir im heurigen Schuljahr am europaweiten SHORE-Projekt teil. Dabei werden wir dankenswerterweise von einigen Institutionen unterstützt wie dem Wasser:Cluster Lunz, dem Haus der Wildnis in Lunz und der Kinderuni Wien. Die Hauptorganisatorin des Projekts an unserer Schule ist Frau Theuretzbacher-Leitner, die in verschiedenen Bereichen von ihren Kolleginnen und Kollegen untersützt wird.
Da dieses Projekt eine EU-gefördertes ist, erhalten wir für diverse Aktivitäten ein Budget von knapp € 8000.-! Damit wird unter anderem eine Exkursion für unsere 3. und die beiden 4. Klassen ins Wildnisgebiet sowie Führungen im HdW möglich.

From Source to Sea
Despite being located far away from the sea, Mittelschule Lunz am See is committed to contributing to ocean protection by educating students about the connections between freshwater ecosystems and the ocean. Through hands-on exploration of local freshwater bodies like the Lunzer Seebach river and Lake Lunz, students gain insight into biodiversity, ecosystem services, and the need for protection and conservation efforts. Our project emphasizes the continuum from source to sea, promoting a comprehensive understanding of water systems. We integrate innovative teaching approaches, including field trips, excursions, indoor and outdoor workshops, and peer learning events, to actively involve students in the learning process. Students will lead tasks, present their findings, and engage with the local community. Collaborations with local stakeholders and water experts (e.g. WasserCluster Lunz, Haus der Wildnis, wastewater treatment plant) enrich the students' learning experience by providing access to current scientific knowledge and practical expertise. This partnership aims to cultivate a new generation of ocean- and water-literate citizens who are passionate about water protection. Additionally, our project promotes European cooperation by seeking partnerships with other Blue Schools and marine organisations (e.g. NGO MareMundi).
